• Keeping quality. Flower color and flower form retention are important attributes being sought through breeding, along with durability to survive winter frost.
• Extended flowering times. Extending plant flowering times extends the blooming season for garden mums from just a few weeks in September until nearly Halloween. What Yoder classifies as early varieties begin flowering in early to mid September, midseason varieties from mid to late September, late season varieties from late September to early October and Season Extender varieties from early to late October.
