Insects

Among the insect pests that may attack garden mums are aphids, mites, various caterpillars, leafminers, whiteflies and thrips. Fortunately, insects are not usually a significant problem.
A preventive spray program may be employed
to guard against outbreaks of insects. Some general purpose insecticides that are typically safe to use on garden mums are Avid (mites, thrips), Conserve (thrips), Dipel (caterpillars) and Marathon (aphids, whitefly).
