Asters

Yoder Garden Asters The Perfect
Complement to Garden Mums
Asters are the ideal fall-blooming perennial to complement garden mums. Yoder garden aster cuttings are specifically grown for use as container plants. Grower cultural practices are similar to those for garden mums. They can also be produced as greenhouse pot plants using photoperiod control.
The aster's delicate daisy flowers come in white and various shades of blue (a color not often seen in garden plants, including mums), lavender, pink and raspberry. For gardeners, asters are hardy in Zones 4 to 9 and make a beautiful addition to perennial gardens around the home. When mature, asters can range from 2 to 4 feet in height, making them desirable for planting between mums and tall growing shrubs. Garden asters also do well alone as accent plants in flower gardens, barrels, urns and other large containers.
Most all of Yoder's current aster varieties were selected from other breeders' varieties in Europe or from North American perennial nurseries. A limited Yoder breeding program has yielded some promising, recently introduced varieties, most notably Ariel, Celeste and Judith.
